In gripper training, just like weight training, it is helpful to know what level you are working at. You wouldn't just put unmarked plates on a bar and squat it without knowing the weight. Why treat your grip different?

Every gripper manufacturer uses its own rating system to measure the difficulty, whether it be numbers, letters, or names. These systems are not universal, so it can be very difficult to compare between makers. Additionally, spring manufacturing processes cause each gripper of the same make and model to differ slightly (and sometimes substantially) from one another.

Fortunately, the grip strength community has a unified system, commonly referred to as "RGC", which can be used to measure all grippers against one another.

You can send your grippers to be rated at Barrel Strength Systems and returned to you with a stamped rating tag. We use calibrated digital scales and magnifiers to ensure that our ratings are consistent with themselves and the greater grip community.
